Historical Fiction- Sojourner Truth

Walking the Road to Freedom, a Story about Sojourner Truth; by Jerri Ferris, tells the story of Sojourner Truth. She was an American slave, abolitionist and women's rights activist. It tells about her "Ain't I a Woman" speech given in 1851 at the Ohio Women's Right Convention. This chapter book would be a great book for children to read when they are learning about African American history and slavery. Their are pictures for children to follow along.
